Road repairs finally underway

FERNDALE – The owner of Krisp Properties Commercial is grateful that Net Water Properties allocated them space that will be used by contractors for JRA.

The site for the contractor who was scheduled to commence construction of Surrey Avenue, Ferndale, has been established. The property at the corner of Kent Avenue and Bond Street will be used as a base.

This after Dirk Botha from Krisp Properties Commercial sought a vacant stand that would be used by a contractor to repair the damaged Surrey Avenue pavement. The pavement adjacent to Nu-hold Group’s office has been eroding since February last year.

The construction site was a stumbling block and delayed the work which should have started in August this year. “We are very thankful to Net Water Properties for allocating their stand to us for a period of six months,” he said.

Construction to repair road side of Surrey Avenue is expected to start soon.

Botha put a banner at the site to thank the owner. He further explained that people passing by would see how grateful he was that finally, the road will be repaired. “It will ensure that construction materials are secured and the contractor can start,” he said.

“The owner allowed us to use his site free of charge and he also spent his money cleaning the property,” Botha concluded.

Ward 102 councillor David Potter said it was frustrating that construction has not yet started, adding that he believed the lack of a site camp was the cause for the delay.

Joburg Road Agency  is yet to comment as to when the construction will commence since the site was established.

Details: JRA 011 298 5023; Ward 102 councillor David Potter 082 885 9688.
