• The Caucasian Chalk Circle: Stage Play

Brecht’s classic play entitled, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, featuring 10 performers will be presented by The Performing Arts Fund (PAF) from 27 August to 6 September at the Joburg Theatre’s space.com. Entrance fee is R70.

• Classics meet classical

Opera fans and dance lovers can make their way to the Joburg Theatre when classics meet classical as opera and ballet join forces for two spectacular nights. The event takes place on 29 August and again on 10 September. The two evenings promise to be a feast of music, culture and dance. Tickets are available at Joburgtheatre.com and starts at R200.

• Second Annual Showbiz Entertainment Arts Expo 2015

Turn your talent into a business with expert advice at the second Annual Showbiz Entertainment Arts Expo 2015. The Expo will take place at Museum Africa in Newtown on 4 and 5 September. The expo brings together South Africa’s greatest talents in performance, art and entertainment.

• Animal Farm

Make your way to the Animal Farm play at the Market Theatre which runs until 6 September. Animal Farm is a South African adaptation of George Orwell’s novel. With an all-female cast the play sees leadership, power and it aims to keep the audience on hold by playing between comedy (references to Nkandla’s fire pool) and deeply tragic moments (references to the Marikana massacre).

• Activities galore at the Sasol Bird Fair this weekend

Pack a picnic basket and a blanket and get down to the Sasol Bird Fair on 5 to 6 September at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Poortview. This annual fair takes place at the venue for the second time and will be filled with fun activities for all to enjoy. It offers birding enthusiasts an exciting weekend programme, including topical lectures by experts, guided walks, children’s entertainment, train rides and spot prizes.

• Life in Colour

Make your way to the world’s largest paint party, Life In Colour, which will be taking place at Nasrec Expo Centre on 5 of September. Johannesburg will be the proud host of a party spanning 110 different cities worldwide, which are all looking forward to the “Big Bang” paint blast.

• Sexy Groovy Love – Jozi has a new Playground

Johannesburg is invited to come play as Sexy Groovy Love creates a magical wonderland at Muldersdrift on 19 September. The boutique festival reaches Joburg for the first time.

• The Parlotones to light up the Lyric at Gold Reef City.

The internationally acclaimed rock band, The Parlotones, has announced the second leg of their tour which is set to arrive at The Lyric on 23 September at Gold Reef City. Fans can look forward to a variety of new songs and also included will be their hit songs Beautiful, Push Me To The Floor, Giant Mistake, I’m Only Human, Disappear Without A Trace, and Baby Be Mine.

• Dance for a cure whirls its way to Gold Reef City.

A spectacular extravaganza of dance and song will wow audiences at The Lyric, Gold Reef City, on 30 of September in celebration of cervical cancer awareness month and to highlight the fact that there is now a life-saving vaccine bringing hope to young women all over the world. Do the right thing and join them.

• Commonwealth pageants to enchant at Gold Reef City.

Make your way to the spectacular 2015 crowning gala of Miss Teen, Miss, Mrs and Mr Commonwealth SA which takes place at The Lyric, Gold Reef City on 12 September. Commonwealth Pageants South Africa team aims to do more than bring beauty and brains.
