Doggy fashion parade takes the stage in Randburg

Debby, a tinny puppy owned by Abiah Mahlazi from Randburg, came first during the doggy fashion parade that took place on the Corner of Eileen and Geneva roads on 29 August.

Led by her owner – Debby, dressed in the same attire as her coach, showed the audience how funny and disciplined she is.

Her male companion Buff, owned by Bradley Muttitt, also took to the stage with his bossy attitude.

The cutest of dogs across Randburg participated at the doggy fashion parade organised by Lisof Design Academy [www.lisof.co.za] at the Blairgowrie campus.

Two dogs – Lulu and Toby owned by Kim Day – also modelled, demonstrating some good movements and their funny characters.

Both dogs came second.

The dogs’ fashion parade was part of a charity fundraising campaign, also organised by Lisof.

Mahlazi said raising a dog takes one’s dedication and discipline.

“To raise a disciplined dog, you also need to be disciplined,” said Mahlazi.

He said he is happy that Debby won a basket of dog food, cosmetics and accessories.

Lulu’s owner Day said she’s been preparing for the event for the past month and she had confidence that Lulu will win.

One of the speakers, Retha van der Walt who handed over the dogs’ prizes, quoted one Alfred A Montappert’s quotes when he said, “Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to.”

One of the students, Nomzamo Mokaba said, “This was part of the Haute Bag Project put together by the third year marketing and project management students from Blairgowrie campus.”
