Breakfast raises R40 000 for Leukemia patients

RANDPARK – Sunflower Fund Ladies Breakfast raised R40 000 to support the leukemia patients.

More than 100 women attended the Sunflower Fund Ladies Breakfast on 16 August at the Fairway Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort in Randpark.

The event was aimed at supporting women, girls and other patients who are suffering from leukemia or other life threatening blood related disorders.

“Women’s Month is a special month for all women and girls around South Africa,” explained Sunflower Fund public relations and events manager Takalani Ramaphosa.

R40 000 was raised in support of the leukemia patients during the breakfast and the inspirational speaker Marlette Hegyi addressed the attendants.

Ramaphosa further indicated that some of these women and girls were suffering from different types of cancer and illnesses and it has prompted the Sunflower Fund to support women.

The Sunflower Fund is a non-profit charity that seeks to build The South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) in the hopes of finding a life-saving bone marrow stem cell matches for patients.

It creates awareness, educates and recruits potential donors to join the SABMR. All funds raised at this event will go toward the specialized tissue-type testing to place potential donors on the SABMR.
