BREAKING NEWS: Guards shot during cash in transit robbery

Randburg CBD – Two guards were shot in the afternoon of 4 August during a cash-in-transit robbery at the Cambridge Store in Randburg CBD.

One guard was shot in the back and the other one in the leg.

They have since been transported to hospital after sustaining severe injuries.

The suspects are at large and the details are not clear at this stage if they left with money or not.

The Randburg SAPS Acting Station Commander Colonel Andries Odendaal said the incident would be investigated by the Organised Crime Unit.

“At this stage I cannot divulge anything, the case will be opened at the Randburg Police Station and a case of cash-in-transit will be investigated,” he said.

A traumatised eyewitness Phathutshedzo Ratshitanga whose car was shot by suspects said rapid shots were fired while they were inside the shop.

“A security van arrived at the shop followed by a VW white Jetta. We were not aware what was happening until we heard gun shots”, He explained.
