RANDBURG – Couple celebrates their diamond wedding anniversary.

On the 11 June the Thomas’ celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Brian and Sheila Thomas (nee Messer) were married 60 years ago on 11 June 1955 in England .

They emigrated to South Africa, Johannesburg in 1967 with their son and daughter where Brian joined the 20th Century Fox Group.

Brian was the manager of a number of cinemas around Johannesburg in the early years including the old 20th Century where Sheila was his ‘right-hand man’ too!

Their second daughter was born in 1971, making the family complete.

Brian also managed the Colosseum in Commissioner Street where all the top international stars came to perform in the ’70s and he has some very interesting and funny stories from that time.

He opened the brand new, top of its class cinema complex when the original Sandton City was built.

Sheila at this time was already working at the head office of Computicket, since its inception with the legendary Percy Tucker, where she remained till her retirement, becoming one of their longest serving employees.

Their greatest legacy, of course, are their three wonderful children (with spouses) who have given them a grandson and four granddaughters, and who are all well-accomplished, successful, and all of whom they love very much.
