Brig Hugo says she is ready to serve and engage with the community of Douglasdale. She was officially appointed as Station Commander on 23 February and has been in the police service for 34 years.

Brig Hugo was also the first female station commander in the country in 1989 at the Kraaifontein Police Station, Cape Town. She joined the police service on 12 January 1981.”I joined because I really have a passion for people and helping them. Being in the police is truly an exciting career, there is never a boring day. A real difference can be made for the communities when one joins the police,” said Hugo.

Hugo explained that a lot can be achieved if people just respect each other. She added that respect also simply creates a better environment for everyone to work in.

She explained that her aim is to work with her team who will work together in uplifting the community. “If the community works hand in hand with us (the police) and not against us, more will be achieved,” added Brig Hugo.

Brig Hugo described her character as:

• Down to earth

• Honest

• Passionate

• Respectful

• Fair

She shared that spending time with her family and being outdoors are some of the things she enjoys most.

“I want to improve the image of the Douglasdale SAPS through better service delivery and working together with the community,” said Brig Hugo.
