Adrienne Hersch’s record-breaking challenge

MALANSHOF — This year's Adrienne Hersch challenge record holder will away with R10 000.

Entries are rolling in for the Adrienne Hersch Challenge taking place on 10 May at the Randburg Harriers Club.

This year’s challenge will include a R10 000 bonus for the person who breaks the course record currently at 01:07:06 for the men’s 21km and 01:16:18 for women in 2012.

Now in its 32nd year, more than 5 000 runners are expected to compete in the 21km, 10km and 5km events as the last opportunities for a practice run before the Comrades Marathon.

A portion of the entry fees will be donated to two charities – The Wandsworth School for Special Needs Children and Anne Harding Cheshire Homes.

There will also be a treat for the ladies at the event in commemoration of Mother’s Day. Non-invasive beauty and aesthetic treatments company Laser Beautique will give each woman a R550 voucher to treat themselves their mother on the special day.

There are 500 points to be earned for the 5km run, 1000 points for the 10km and 3000 points for the 21km for all Discovery Vitality members.

Turn the race into a family event by enjoying the entertainment, food fair and craft beer vendors.

A kiddies entertainment area will ensure the youngest family members enjoy giant inflatables, character figures and child minders.

Online entries can be booked at www.entrytime.com. Pre-entries and online entry collection will be available at the venue on 8 and 9 May between 11am and 4pm.
