GALLERY: Robin Hills swimming pool gets upgrade

ROBIN HILLS – Jozi@Work creates employment for fourteen Windsor residents.

The City of Johannesburg has given some unemployed community members in Windsor an opportunity to change their status to employed. (See previous story) Fourteen Windsor community members started their new job to upgrade the Robin Hills swimming pool and its facilities on 29 April. The contract for the upgrade will run over two weeks.”I am so happy that this opportunity for employment has been brought forward to [the] community of Windsor through the Jozi@work initiative. I worked very hard to try and get jobs offered to the Windsor community, so I am extremely excited that employment has been created,” said Ward 98 councillor Laurette van Zijl.

In order for residents to apply for a tender that is offered by Jozi@work, they must be part of a registered cooperative or small business. No qualifications are needed.

Bravo Enterprise was appointed by the city to conduct upgrades on the swimming pool facilities.”I am very happy that we were given this opportunity.We plan to add ramps to make the pool area more user-friendly for the disabled as well as doing some maintenance and upgrading to the place,” commented chairperson of Bravo Enterprise Joy Mathebula.

Employee Lebo Dibutle said she is on top of the world as she finally has a job. “I was really battling to find employment, many people have failed me before but now I am happy and excited to start working,” she said.

Employee Naledi Mathebula said, “Having a job has uplifted me. Service delivery will be on top of our (Bravo Enterprises) list, it will be our middle name.”
