Residents welcome road widening project

BOSKRUIN – Narrow roads will be widened in the area.

Residents in the area are excited about the road that will be widened on parts of President Fouché Road and CR Swart Drive.

Hector Dreyer of Boskruin Veterinary Clinic said, “Traffic is really bad on this corner. I think the widening of the road could only help.”

Resident Anita Duvall explained that traffic is a nightmare in this area. “It’s really bad – especially during peak-hour traffic. I think the extra lanes will make it easier to drive around in the area.”

Dreyer was still uncertain about which roads will be widened and Duvall added and said that residents in the area haven’t yet been notified by JRA.

Ward 101 councillor Ralf Bittkau said it was the first time that he has heard of the road widening.

“I have never received any information from JRA about the road widening but I agree with the residents and their complaints as the road is very narrow and motorists sit in traffic for hours.”

He further added that he had put the road widening into his latest Integrated Development Plan for Ward 101. “I have put in a request to widen the road all the way from CR Swart Drive past President Fouché Road all the way through to the Rabie Street intersection,” concluded Bittkau.

Comment from JRA is still awaited.
