Mom and daughter (11) tied up and robbed

LINDEN – Three men break into a house and commit robbery during early hours.

A woman and her 11-year-old daughter were tied up and robbed in their home in Linden on 2 April. The woman was in tears and would not speak to the media immediately, but said that an interview would be possible at a later stage. Linden Police and Pexco Security and Training, attended to the scene at around 5am. “There were three unknown… males who entered the house by breaking a window,” said Linden Sector 2 manager Warrant Officer Sarel Bredenhand.

“The mom and daughter were tied up. No firearms were seen during the robbery. One suspect had a baseball bat… items in the house were robbed.” WO Bredenhand added that a case of housebreaking and robbery was opened at Linden Police Station, and Linden Police detectives are investigating the matter. Pexco’s guarding division manager Fareed Hoosen and owner Marion Colley were on patrol when they were informed of men jumping over walls in a nearby street.

They came upon five men in a vehicle, who quickly sped away. Hoosen and Colley gave chase all the way to Milpark, where they decided to return to Linden, believing that the suspects were leading them away from something. Another resident informed them that she heard screaming in the victims’ street, and Hoosen and Colley found the mother and daughter at home, shortly after they had apperently freed themselves with kitchen scissors.

“There are way too many housebreakings and robberies in Linden,” Hoosen said. Former police officer André Fabricius was murdered in his home in Linden on 17 February during such an incident.
