GALLERY: ‘The Jungle Book Kids’ on stage

BRAAMFONTEIN – The ‘bear-necessities’ gets a make-over at The People’s Theatre production of 'The Jungle Book'.

The People’s Theatre welcomed the adaption of Rudyard Kipling’s story, Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids.

Media were delighted by a pre-viewing of the beloved children book and movie, The Jungle Book. The theatre was packed with excited children and parents.

The play is adapted from the much-loved movie with the same treasured character. Mowgli is a small boy who has been raised by a pack of wolves; wise Bagheera (a black panther) desperately implores Mowgli to return to the ‘man village’ before the ominous return of tiger Shere Khan.

Baloo, the long-loved carefree bear, befriends young Mowgli and teaches him the ‘bear-necessities’. The play itself follows along the novel’s plot line more accurately than the Disney movie. The characters interact incredibly well with the young and old audience.

The set is bright and colourful with delightful sounds and even better songs. It was exciting, yet challenging, as it follows Mowgli along his journey to self- discovery with a little jungle style. A must see for young children and families.
