Police bust fake documents producers

ZANDSPRUIT – Police stop suspicious vehicle on Beyers Naudé to find two men in possession of a stack of fake asylum documents.

Metro Police arrested two men in possession of fake asylum documents. According to Metro Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, their officers made the arrest around 2am on Thursday 15 January.

“The officers stopped a suspicious-looking red Renault on Beyers Naudé on-ramp,”said Supt Minnaar.

He explained that when searching the car, the officers found a stack of fake asylum documents in the vehicle.

The officers immediately arrested them and following further interrogation, the two alleged suspects took the police to Plot 15 in Zandspruit. It was found that the two suspects were running their whole operation from the two containers at the said location.

“Computers which are believed to have been used to produce the fake documents were confiscated including fake passports, fake South African Revenue Services (Sars) certificates and fake asylum documents.”

The suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud.
