Alleged house robber flees after gunshot

MORET – Charging man turns to flee after resident opens fire with warning shot.

Robbers will now know not to mess with a certain house owner in Silverpine Avenue, Moret.

Linden Police confirmed that a man believed to be in the process of robbing the house, ran away after the owner fired a warning shot with a gun on 7 December.

Head of Visible Policing at Linden Police Station Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Musthan explained that a man climbed over a wall into the residential property at 10pm.

The owner saw the man and went outside with his gun.

When the man saw the owner, he allegedly charged him.

Feeling threatened, the owner fired a single warning shot with his gun.

Musthan could not say whether the owner fired the shot in the air, or on the ground away from the man; only that a “warning shot” was fired, and no one was injured.

The man turned and ran away.

No case was opened with the police.

Community Support Services were later on scene.

The security company’s CEO Greg Pearce confirmed the incident.
