Keep an eye out for wandering vagrants

WELTEVREDEN PARK – CPF chairperson says residents should keep phone numbers of sector vehicles stored on their cellphones.

Vagrant problems are a big concern and problem for residents in the greenbelt areas in Weltevreden Park.

CPF Sector 2 chairperson Neville Burnett said that burglaries have increased, and he suspects that vagrants are involved. “You hear about a housebreaking every second day and, most of the times, these criminals steal handbags and other personal belongings. They have to and this is how they survive.”

According to Burnett, vagrants walk along the greenbelt during the day but they are only the spotters for the guys who come and break into the houses.

“Crime will increase rapidly as we get closer to Christmas and residents need to be aware of what’s happening around them. Check if your gates and doors are locked, make sure your alarm is working, test all of your panic buttons. Make sure that you know your neighbours and have their numbers on hand should an incident occur.”

Honeydew Police Sector 2 patrol vehicles numbers are: 071 675 7112 and 071 675 7102.

Details: Neville Burnett 076 077 5585.
