Zuma case: Officials expected to visit accident scene

RANDBURG - Duzuzane and Dlamini inquest is expected to take to the streets today 7 November on Grayston Drive.

President Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane Zuma appeared at an inquest held at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 6 November.

Evidence was heard from Jabulani Vusi Dlamini, the driver of the minibus taxi that is alleged to have been hit by Zuma’s while he was driving his silver Porsche in Sandton.

Dlamini had his statement read out by the Zulu interpreter. Yusaf Baba, State Prosecutor, asked Dlamini, “Would you like to clear any discrepancies in your statement?”

Dlamini agreed. Indicating that he went in the, “Lane number two not lane number three, in order to overtake the truck I moved from lane two to lane three, where I passed the slow-moving truck, travelling at plus minus 100 km. After the silver Porsche hit the vehicle on the right rear end, I then spun twice where the front right side was damaged.”

Dlamini stated that, ”We left the bus but two people remained in the bus… I checked for injured people… Someone called the ambulance… The rain was strong and very wet. Visibility was clear.”

Dlamini denied a previous statement that was put in as evidence, that it was raining heavily at the time of the collision. He now says that it was

raining “normally” and “I did not see any water on the ground because there were moving cars in the road, I am not disputing that Mr Zuma

may have seen water because I could not see where he saw.”

A witness statement said Dlamini spoke to a witness and said, “The problem was the water.. “, Dlamini did not mention that the silver Porsche was in any way the cause of the disturbance in his driving.

Court officials are expected to go to the scene of the accident in Sandton on Grayston Drive in the morning 7 November, in order to determine a more accurate estimation of events.

Duduzane Zuma is expected to testify first thing on 10 November at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
