Like a fish to water
Randburg residents compete in Hansa Fish River Marathon between 10 and 11 October.
The Hansa Fish River Marathon took place on 10 and 11 October in Cradock, Eastern Cape. The water canoe sport wowed contestants with the wide mountain ranges of the Grassmere Dam. The course of 80km of wild, white water is achieved by a guaranteed water release, as well as long sections of flat river, and a number of boat breaking rapids.
The first double finishers were Randpark Ridge resident Kevin Hunt and Randburg’s Chris van der Merwe. Jeep Constantia Kloof sponsored the event with vehicle transport for the communities’ youth and the club’s finalist. The Randburg pair from Florida Lake Canoe Club finished as 35th K2, in a time of 06:29:00 over the two-day course.
