Slam dunk for St Stithians Boys
BRYANSTON- Basket balls champions from St Stithians Boys' College
St Stithians Boys’ College won the Independent School Stayers Tournament on 6 October.
The Independent Schools Stayers Tournament has been running at Kearsney College for the last eight years.
It is a pre-season tournament created to help coaches prepare the players who will be in Grade 12 or lower in the following season – as such, most of the players are in Grade 10 and 11 when they travel down.
Under the guidance of coach Rex Komadinic, who played professional basketball in Sweden and coached professionally in Serbia for 30 years,they have entered three pre-season tournaments.
The school competed against St Albans College (lost), St Charles College (won), Clifton College (won), St Nicholas School (won), Grace College (won) and St John’s College (won) for the semi-finals.
The team won all tournaments and they even beat the hosting team, Kearsney College.
The final score was 50–40 to St Stithians Boys’ College.
