Some suburbs still without water

JOBURG – Joburg Water pleads with residents to use water sparingly until full restoration in all affected areas.

Some suburbs are still without water following the electrical problems that affected the pumping of water .

Joburg Water, the City of Johannesburg’s water and sanitation service provider apologised for the inconvenience suffered by residents fed by Crown Gardens, Waterfall, Linden and Quellerina towers, Hursthill and Honeydew reservoirs for the water shortages currently experienced in some areas.

Spokesperson for Joburg Water Millicent Kabwe highlighted that the demand for water is high in the areas serviced by the above mentioned reservoirs and towers and, therefore, the water levels continue to drop as it feeds into the system.

Some of the areas that are still affected are:

Hursthill reservoir – Hursthill, Albertville, Martindale, Triomf,Westbury, Mount Clare, Coronationville, Bosmont, Newlands

Honeydew reservoir – Honeydew, Laser Park, Harveston, Ambot

Crown Garden tower – Crown Garden, Winchesterhills, Meredale

Waterval tower – Waterval, Bergbron, Whiteridge, Robertsham

Quellerina tower – Quellerina

Linden tower – Linden Ext

Kabwe mentioned that the majority of the reservoirs and towers that were affected on Monday have recovered, but for the residents that are still affected they were busy placing water tanks in the following areas for temporary supply:

l Coronationville Hospital

Crown Gardens – Corner of Rifle Range and Limerick streets

Sophiatown – Shoprite corner Gibson and Edward streets.

Quellerina – Woolworths corner 14th Ave and Weltevreden Street

Bergbron – Spar corner Bergbron Drive and Gordon Road

Winchester Hills – Corner Woodgreen and Angela Baltimore streets.

Auckland Park – Campus Square corner Kingsway and Main roads.

“We are appealing to the residents that have water supply to use water sparingly to give our system time to recover for normal supply to be restored in all areas,” said Kabwe.
