Randburg U15s unperturbed by loss

MALANSHOF – Randburg Football Club aims for more than just winning.

The Randburg Football Club U15 team lost 1–0 to Future Through Football Academy in their South African Football Association (Safa) Johannesburg Academy League match on 29 August. But the loss does not hurt their position in the league, which is about fourth out of 16 teams halfway through the season, nor does it impede upon the club’s ambitions.

The match was played at the Randburg Sports Complex, Malanshof.

The ball was played back and forth across the pitch, as chances were hard to come by and both teams often gave away possession. Nevertheless, the Future Through Football Academy, which is based in Sandton, gained a little more possession and produced more chances. They scored in the first half.

Jomo Biyela, who is the coach for the Randburg Football Club U14 and U15 teams, made attacking substitutions in the second half, which included sending in a second striker. But it was to no avail. “We did well,” Biyela said. “It is not all about winning. We want to develop the future. That is what we are about at Randburg Football Club. Players should improve each season and know their roles.”
