Thrilling bowling tournament

FERNDALE - Women were battling it out at a bowling tournament on 9 August.

Women were shining in bowling at the 24th year of Ferndale Ladies’ Trips Tournament on 9 August.

The bowling tournament saw enthusiastic bowlers brave the cold weather to compete in the significant tournament which was held on women’s day.

Among the clubs that participated in the tournament were Roosevelt Park, Bryanston Bowling Club, Randburg Bowls and Old Parktonion.

External competition secretary Julia Stockdale informed that it is always great competing with other bowling clubs. “This is a great competition, win or lose, I always enjoy bowling.”

“When you’re bowling you can make anything out of your mistakes,” she said.

In the spirit of Women’s Day, member of the Ferndale Bowling club, Maureen Snashall was excited about organising the tournament and hosting the women. “Planning the competition is always fun and challenging, I have being doing this for many years and it is always great seeing the ladies enjoying themselves.”

Stockdale advised that hopeful bowlers are welcome to join their club.

“Ferndale is a nice, smallish, friendly club and we would like to welcome bowlers of all ages to join us…Our greens are excellent, our facilities comfortable and the surroundings beautiful.”

After the tournament different teams were awarded prizes for their performances.
