Cricket awards for juniors

MALANSHOF – Randburg Cricket Club Juniors reveal their top achievers.

 

MALANSHOF – Many young players left with smiles on their faces after the Randburg Cricket Club Juniors held their closing ceremony and prize giving for the winter season at the Randburg Sports Complex on 26 July.

Callum Broodwyk was awarded player of the season for scoring 140 runs in four innings at an average of 35, and taking five wickets at an average of 13.8, for the U15 team.

In the U9 team Manie Groenewald won the best batsman award for scoring 53 runs at an average of 13.25, Shane Oberholzer was the best bowler for taking six wickets at an average of 11.8 and Samrat Basu was the best all-rounder for scoring 77 runs at an average of 38.5 and taking two wickets at an average of 22.5.

In the U11 team, Jack Loram was the best batsman for scoring 103 runs at an average of 34.3, the best bowler was Heinz Klingenberg for taking five wickets at an average of 14.4 and the best all-rounder was Abri Pretorius for scoring 122 runs with the same average, and taking four wickets at an average of 18.5.

In the U13 team the best batsman was Joshua Smith for scoring 155 runs at an average of 78.5, the best bowler was Ruben van Tonder for taking six wickets at an average of six, and the best all-rounder was Lloyd Tennant for taking six wickets at an average of 15.1 and batting at an average of 25.5.

In the U15 team Calden de Jager was the best batsman for scoring 143 runs at an average of 47.7, Callum Broodwyk was the best bowler (see above) and Louis Pretorius was the best all-rounder for scoring 121 runs at an average of 60.5 and taking three wickets at an average of 27.
