The world is his stage

BRYANSTON – Mark Tatham and his crew causes a theatrical buzz.

BRYANSTON – Theatre has always been Mark Tatham’s first love.

As a boy, he began acting while attending St Stithians Boys College, and is now at age 22, in his fourth year of studying drama at Wits University.

This year, Tatham and his business partner, Daniel Geddes, launched their own production company which will be showcasing their work at the Wits 969 Festival later this month.

“The play is called Ira – not Irish Republican Army,” chuckles Tatham, “and it’s about dealing with the suppression of anger and the challenges thereof in society. Because anger and other extreme emotions are so negative, it’s actually healthier to let it out, as opposed to keeping it in inside.”

He further states that the play is more of a physical theatre that leans toward dance as a form of expression through the body. “Four people are living in this society that is oppressive, and the play explores how these people deal with anger in different ways.”

The Liquid Fusion production will not only be performing in Joburg, for they will also be share their talents in Grahamstown on 11 and 12 July, and at the Krêkvars Festival at the University of Pretoria at the end of July.
