Developing the senses sets a foundation for education, and developing touch through the skin is the most effective sense development, says Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge.

Sensory development forms the foundation of a child’s perceptual development and a child needs to reach a certain level of perceptual development to be able to cope with formal education.
Tactile, or touch, development is one of those sensory areas.
Tactile perception is the interpretation of information that is conducted to the brain via the skin, and the skin is the largest sense through which children learn.
Therefore development of touch, even through play, is a vital part of a child’s education.
“At Trinityhouse Pre-Primary Randpark Ridge, we follow a sensory integrated approach to learning through play,” Ruddy said.
