Couple arrested for drug possession and other crimes

LINDEN – Huge stockpile of drug paraphernalia seized.

The long arm of the law is swinging strong in Linden thanks to Linden Neighbourhood Watch (LNW).

Sector police vehicles from Linden police, along with the LNW reaction team, were alerted to suspicious activity taking place at a guesthouse in the suburb at 8.30am on 12 June.

The guesthouse owner phoned the LNW reaction unit after finding strange glass items belonging to one of their guests.

“When we arrived, the suspect tried to flee when he spotted us,” said LNW chairperson Fareed Hoosen. “But we quickly apprehended him. There was another accomplice with him at the guesthouse, a woman, who was also arrested.”

When the suspects and their belongings were searched, various drug pipes were found in their possession. “There were also suspected stolen credit cards and a huge array of drug related paraphernalia.”

The male suspect admitted to the reaction team that he manufacturers the drug pipes himself and sells them to drug dealers. It has been confirmed that he is also wanted on a different drug-related charge.

Linden police spokesperson, Carol Mulamu, has confirmed the arrest.

“On arrival the police recovered seven boxes full of lollipop crack pipes,” reports Mulamu. “Both suspects aged 28 and 34 were arrested and taken to Linden Police Station. They will appear in court soon. Police are investigating the case.”
