ANC trashes park

GOLDEN HARVEST – Golden Harvest Park the victim, after ANC celebrations.

African National Congress (ANC) members partied a bit too hard in Golden Harvest Park on 17 May, and failed to clean up all the litter afterwards.

The political party members were celebrating the general elections victory.

“We apologise to City Parks [who cleaned up afterwards] and residents,” said ANC spokesperson for Randburg, Wellington Ntsodo.

“Someone was cleaning but did not finish.”

Resident Pippa Wepener saw the mess the next day and took photos.

“This is what we pay our taxes for,” she complained.

“I cannot believe that [the ANC] have the gall to take advantage of tax payers like they do.”

Employees at the park were forced to clean up the remaining litter on 26 May.

Democratic Alliance (DA) aligned Ward 101 councillor Ralf Bittkau was more irritated that City Parks did not notify him of the booking of the park, as is normal procedure, than the mess the ANC left behind.

“City Parks did not inform me, as they should have done.”
