Heaven gains an honorary citizen

LINDEN – Randburg remembers Carl Schlotfeldt.

Carl Johann Schlotfeldt, husband, father and respected member of the Linden community, has passed away at the age of 82.

His funeral service was held at St Thomas Anglican Church in Linden, on the morning of 20 May. Many members of the Linden Community Policing Forum attended in condolence and support to the Schlotfeldt family.

Schlotfeldt joined the Victim Support Unit in 2009 after a request was made by the LCPF to the community for a volunteer to co-ordinate the Victim Support Unit. In the same year he joined the LCPF’s executive team.

“He was a true humble gentleman who always considered the needs of others first,” remembers LCPF chairman, Jadd Harding. “His dedication to the unit will be sorely missed.”

Schlotfeldt’s son, Paul, who flew from his home in Canada to attend the service, gave a moving speech about his father to those in attendance.

Paul Schlotfeldt began by saying: “I’m still in shock. We chatted every week and he was always in good spirits, making travel plans and talking about the future.”

He continued to express his gratitude for the fact that his father had not suffered, and passed away gracefully in his sleep.

“He was a loving spouse to my mother, and an amazing dad to me. He was honest, genuine and warm to everyone he knew.”
