Nursery school cares about children’s needs

CRESTA – The Appleseed Nursery School enacts multiple changes.

The new owner of The Appleseed Nursery School claims that children at the nursery school do not sit and watch TV all day, at least not anymore.

Situated in Cresta, the nursery school was established in 2005 and was previously called Fun Factory.

Geraldine Rielly, who took over ownership in January this year, said the nursery school’s previous owner did very little for the educational and physical growth of the children.

“The previous owner lost her passion for the job,” Rielly explained. “She brought DSTV and the children just sat in front of the TV.”

Rielly added that the nursery school is “not a baby-sitting place”, and since she took over, the children have been very active, participating in more extensive learning classes and, for the first time, extra-mural activities – such as marimba sessions.

The nursery school now also goes on outings, donates food, blankets and clothing to charity, holds annual music concerts and will soon host fun sports days.

Furthermore, the nursery school is now registered with the Gauteng Department of Education, having formed a Grade R class.
