Dress up in funky shoelaces and takkies

JOHANNESURG - Everyone has a chance to wear tekkies to work in support of charity organisations at the end of the month.

Tekkie Tax will be hosting its annual charity campaign on 30 May.

“[On this day] you will be applauded for wearing your takkies to work, even with your most formal and impressive business gear,” said Tekkie Tax Media Liaison Cornel Theron.

Tekkie Tax is an annual campaign to raise funds for charities in different sectors which include animals, basic community welfare, children, disability and education.

“The 2013 Tekkie Tax campaign was an overwhelming success and raised R2,4-million for 183 participating welfare organisations. We are hoping to hit the R 5-million mark this year,” commented Theron.

Tekkie Tax has various celebrities supporting the project such as, Denver Vraagom, 7de Laan, Joshua na die reën, Adam Tas, Arno Jordaan, Rhythm City’s Itumeleng Bokaba, Saarkie Band, Sharoney, Times 2, Victory 5, Sextons and Simeon.

The campaign was started by Annelise de Jager who has been working in the field of Charity Support Services for about 30 years.

De Jager was a finalist in the SA Institute for Fundraising for Fundraiser of the Year in 2013, and she won the CEO Communication’s prestigious award as Most Influential Woman in Business and Government.
