Letter to the Editor: Thanks to Joburg authorities… Cape Town here I come

RANDBURG - "A big congratulations to the authorities for fixing the street lights on Barkston Drive. Pity they are now on day and night."

George Cox writes:

A big congratulations to the authorities for fixing the street lights on Barkston Drive. Pity they are now on day and night.

Also congrats for resurfacing the road after many years of filling in potholes inside potholes. Pity the coating is only about 10mm thick. Two holes started one week after completion. Oh and by the way, the surface of the tar needs to be above the level of the storm drains, not below, as a very large puddle has grown, and motorists have to move to the oncoming lane, thinking it is hiding another pothole.

Great that white lines are painted in the center of the road. Pity they forgot to paint a barrier line and ‘Stop’ at the corner of Barkston Drive and Mackay Avenue, Blairgowrie.

Will they do that after a fatality, as I have seen more than one car go straight through at night?

Thanks Joburg elect for billing me for one meter instead of 2 especially as I have been e-mailing you for 4 years, and have ostensibly built up a bill of R72 000. Pity the recon was done incorrectly, leaving a bill of R20 000. Fixed in another 4 years perhaps?

A big hole filled with water has been on the corner of Barkston and Mackay, which blocks the foot path, for 4 years. Perhaps it will be fixed this year?

Cape Town here I come!

Regards GC
