Orion College celebrates World Health Day

RANDPARK RIDGE - Pupils become doctors nurses and even injured patients for a day.

Pupils at the Orion College celebrated the international World Health Day on 4 April, by dressing up as budding young doctors, nurses and also injured hospital patients.

They took turns rotating in each role, learning about different aspects of being a medical staff and about hospital and patient care. Children also had fun molding clay and coming up with creative ways to ‘play’ syringes and medical equipment.

Teacher Megan Scannell explained that it was an innovative way to teach children about medicine and how important it is, to their lives.

“It was very well received,” said the teacher. “Through practical application of visual and stimulation, the children learned about different illnesses, injuries and how they are healed by professionals.”
