There is a power outage planned for tonight that will affect some readers of the Northcliff Melville Times who are connected to the grid via the Parkhurst Sub-Station.
“The reason that we have to endure so many planned outages is that equipment at the sub-station is old and needs upgrading,” said Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck.
“The good news is that we will be getting a R10 million upgrade in 2014/15 and another R10 million in 2015/16. These upgrades should reduce the planned outages.”
Residents of Blairgowrie, Greenside East, Greenside East Ext 1-6, Emmarentia, Emmarentia Ext 1, Vistory Park Ext 30 Greenside can expect to be without electricity from 10pm-6am.
Next week Tuesday, 29 April, residents of Blairgowrie, Linden, Pierneef Park, Pine Park, Victory Park will also experience a planned power cut from 10pm – 6am.
