Race of love

Great joy was expressed by runners who participated in the Randburg Harriers Running Club’s annual KFC Valentine 10km Night Race.

The Randburg Harriers Running Club hosted its annual KFC Valentine 10km Night Race.

At 7pm runners took off from the Randburg Sports Complex, ran 10km through the streets of Windsor and Robin Hills and finished at the complex. 4 300 people finished the run.

The atmosphere was vibrant as runners dressed up for prizes and enjoyed the marquee bar and one-man-band, David Abbot.

Some runners even pushed their children in prams, or ran with their dogs.

The results were as follows;

Men’s categories:

  • Open: winner Frik Guys 30:41; second Sibusiso Nzima 31:46; third Lebogange Masela 31:59.
  • Veterans: winner Sipho Ncube 33:52; second Never Matiya 33:56; third Sello Monana 36:45.
  • Masters: winner Tidimalo Modiga 37:12; second Sotaga Mabale 37:59; third Reform Ndlovu 39:06.
  • Grandmasters: winner Steven Seema 41:54; second Don Charles 43:04.
  • Great grandmasters: winner Pele Tshidukudamalema 47:43.
  • Juniors: winner Sifiso Tshabalala 41:08; second Courtney Hein-Wacker 41:40.

Women’s categories:

  • Open: winner Yolandi McClean 37:03; second Kim Laxton 37:14; third Tebogo Mashela 39:12.
  • Veterans: winner Paula Quinsee 40:54; second Sarah Mahlangu 46:27; third Sonja Ludick 47:06.
  • Masters: winner Selinah Netshisaula 52:49; second Sewele Mopanya 53:52; third Rhoda Berry 55:54.
  • Grandmasters: winner Roina Sebati 61:24; second Margaret Boshoe 64:25.
  • Great grandmasters: winner Wilna Strydom 89:26.
  • Juniors: winner Done Grove 42:46; second Cian Oldknow 45:33.
