Heavy rains cause floods in Malanshof

Heavy rain and hail hit parts of Johannesburg and in Malanshof residents’ homes were flooded.

The following morning debris was everywhere to be seen.

Malanshof resident John Dott was not at home when he received an SMS about the flooding in the streets of Malanshof.

“If a double cab were to stand on the bridge in Gertrude Street, the water would have taken it with,” he said. “The flood was extremely strong. In some gardens the water level was up to your chest.”

According to Dott another resident had to be pulled out of his car. The rain started late afternoon and by the next morning the water was gone. “Every time it rains floods occur in Malanshof.”
