Nina Venjakob of Ferndale company Out of the Box explained the devastating effects that drug use had on users and their families.
She said, “One addict affects 16 people so the Central Drug Authority estimates that there is about two million people addicted to substances and this means that over 30 million people are directly and indirectly affected by drugs in South Africa.”
The company will host a Christmas fair at 305 Long Avenue in Ferndale on 30 November and 1 December from 10am to 4pm. “There will be a range of various handcrafted gifts and arts to choose from to make this Christmas special for your loved ones. The proceeds will be used for the prevention of substance abuse in schools among our children.”
She urges residents to support the cause and enjoy the day with loved ones.
