SPCA secondhand bookshops thrive on donations, so an accusation by a member of the public that the association pulped unsold books was spurious.
This according to Randburg SPCA manager, Craig Rudman who said the society had stopped this practice. “We donate books and magazines that remain on the shelves to various schools around Johannesburg, so the complaint is unfounded.
It is our way of giving back to the community.”
Bookshop manager Felix Moyo invited residents and book lovers to visit the bookshop. “If people are looking for a certain book, they can come and talk to us and we will do our best to help them locate the book,” said Moyo.
