School revived with trees

On 5 September Randburg Clinic School came together to Arbor Day.

City Parks donated trees to the school and took part in creating a successful event.

“We have always been donating trees to the school. The school has continued to contact us and ask for more trees. I thought Arbor Day would be a great day to bring in more trees for the school,” said City Parks manager Rose Abdullah. City Parks staff assisted the children in planting trees and showed them how to care for them.

“I am very glad to see the school receiving more trees. We have been teaching the children about trees and now they get the chance to see how the trees are planted. This is really good for them,” said Grade 6 teacher Marni Barkhuizen.

The school’s principal Ronald Batchelor said, “I am very thankful to City Parks for coming to our school and donating the trees. We need as much help as we can get to improve the school. This is only the beginning of great things to come,” said Abdullah.

Batchelor said, “Thanks to the staff of City Parks, it was a great way to kick start Spring.

The pupils can now go on holiday and hopefully share what Arbor Day is about and plant trees at home.”
