Go for walks and play sports to become fit and healthy – Thabiso Maffa

A healthy diet and regular exercise are key to becoming and staying fit, resident says.

Thabiso Maffa writes:

We need to keep fit, we can’t just be running out of breath every time we take a walk. You don’t get tired soon, you feel good and have fun when doing an energetic activity.

I try to keep fit and I would recommend people definitely get out and exercise if they are not already doing that. In a day, take a one-hour walk. It’s just a walk, it does not have to be a run or a jog, but at least go for a walk every day.

Sports are good, too. They keep your heart rate up and work muscles. I play tennis.

Also definitely watch what you eat if you want to be healthy. You can’t be eating junk food every single day. Obviously, you can have one weekend you can get take-outs but don’t make it too often.

I completed the 5km route at the SPAR Women’s Challenge Jozi and it was a lot of fun.
