Randburg FC U17 humiliates Kagiso Academy
Kagiso Porto Academy struggled to cope with the intensity and difficulty of Randburg's weather conditions.
Randburg Football Club U17 smashed Kagiso Porto Academy 5–0 at home to maintain their goal of finishing in the top four of the Gauteng Development League (GDL).
In the first 20 minutes, the visitors looked promising, rotating the ball smartly and maintaining control. However, as the game progressed, they suffered from the heat and were unable to keep up with the speed of the Randburg attackers.
They created a few chances early in the half but were not clinical in front of goals. Randburg’s counterattack football paid off as Tyson Ndlovu broke the deadlock deep in the half (1–0).
In the stroke of half-time, the visitors were slowly cracking and making errors at the back. Patrick Chisunga capitalised on the mistakes and made it 2–0 before half-time.
Kagiso coach, Kagiso Mogorosi said that it was a very tough game under difficult circumstances. “We won’t blame anything; we tried to push and apply ourselves but it was very difficult as the game progressed. Our energy level was down and it became so difficult for us to cope with the level of intensity they were giving us.”
The home side began the second stanza with the same energy and intensity. Chisunga and Ndlovu doubled their goals for the day. Substitution Siphamandla Nkosi put a nail in the coffin and sealed all points for the home side (5–0).
Randburg coach Columbis Kasper said that his boys did very well, especially under draining weather and they are happy to have scored more goals. “This season we have been struggling to convert our chances; there were games where we would have scored five or six but we would get one.”
He also stated that they are still on course to finish in the top four.
