Nature inspires local artist Ian Pinnock

Before making a painting, Ian Pinnock enjoys going outdoors and appreciating the beauty of everything around him.

Local painter Ian Pinnock takes inspiration for his work from nature.

The Randburg Art Society member creates vibrant landscapes and colourful, intricate close-ups of wildlife at the group’s weekly meetings at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre. Water is a feature, with waterfalls, harbours and seas often beautifully depicted in his work.

His paintings are primarily done with acrylics though he does like to use oils now and then. “I mainly do landscapes but I can get mixed up in all sorts of things,” the artist smiled.

“I have been doing this since I retired eight years ago and I love it.”
He said going outdoors and finding nature are what he enjoys doing most before painting.

“A good artist has flair, is not hard on themselves and is free flowing.”
He said he always tries to be creative in whatever he does and is also a member of a creative writing group.

Randburg Art Society chairperson Teresa New thanked the community for taking an interest in local artists. “The society is doing well and we are seeing a number of artists join lately,” she said.

New invited artists interested in joining the society to visit one of the meetings on a Monday from 09:30 or phone them.
