Vandia Grove actor goes the distance in New York

Bryce Bennet is also awarded scholarship to the New York Film Academy.

Aspiring actor and model, Bryce Bennet won a bag full of awards at the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA) convention in New York.

The Vandia Grove resident and King Edward VII School (KES) matric learner thanked the community who helped him get there by contributing financially towards his trip.

Of the 13 categories Bryce entered, he won six awards and was also runner-up in the junior male actor category.

“I was also awarded a scholarship to the New York Film Academy,” he said. “My options for education have opened completely as I also received a scholarship to American Musical and Dramatic Academy last year. Over and above this, I received 15 callbacks from modelling directors and casting agents from around the world: USA, Canada, China, Brazil and Japan.”

He said during these callback sessions, he engaged well with a couple of agents and, together with his agency director from 33 & Me Talent Agency they are currently negotiating placements for January next year.

Bryce Bennet has a great time and reaps the rewards of hard work in New York.

Awards were as follows:

  • Theatrical Headshots – Winner. Here, two headshots are displayed, and judging is based on casting potential for film, stage and electronic media.
  • Screen Test – Second. Contestants memorise a couple of lines presented to them in
    line-up. Judging is based on casting potential, stage personality and on-camera
    appeal.
  • Voice Over – Second. Contestants (concealed from the judges) read a short script. Judging is based on clarity, cleanliness of speech, characterisation,
    connection to the script, conviction, confidence and vocal quality.
  • TV Beauty – Second. This involves commercial scripts for beauty product adverts that are memorised and presented. Judging is based on projection, delivery and believability.
  • Real People – Third. A script (general adverts) is memorised and presented. Judging is based on projection, delivery and believability.
  • Cold Read – Third. Contestants perform live opposite a professional actor. Judging is based on acting ability and casting potential.
  • Junior Male Actor – runner up
