Old Parks Sports Club held a successful U8 festival

Families and children had a great time watching the U8s demonstrate their soccer talents in front of their parents as spectators.

Parents turned out in force to watch their future little stars compete in the Old Parks Sports Club’s U8 soccer festival.

The festival was spread across four fields to accommodate all 18 teams. Because U8s do not play league matches, it was a non-competitive league festival and was designed to give potential stars game time and an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of their parents.

The festival featured teams such as Northern Stars, Randburg FC, Panorama, and Emmarentia Pirates. Northern Stars and Randburg FC had so much fun that they played for an extra hour on the spare field after everyone else had gone home.

The event began with a 2–1 setback for the hosts, Old Parks, against Panorama. They lost 4–0 against Northern Stars and finished with a stunning 2–1 win over Emmarentia Pirates.

Old Parks U8 coach Godswill Nyamukomba said his team played well on the day. He added their passing was good, the reading of the game was on point and they even managed to score.

“The second game was a tough match. Our team just never got the chance to get going as the opposition was simply too strong. There were some key moments that I was happy about. All in all, it was a fantastic day filled with good football and good fun for all.”
