Camp Delta is abuzz as The Local Market hosts fundraiser for CPF

The community enjoys another market at Delta Park as the Linden CPF raises funds and awareness for what it does.

Police officers, horses, bag-pipes and of course, market stalls, were the order of the day at The Local Market’s most recent outing.

In fact, Camp Delta was packed with gazebos of local producers showing their wares on June 11, and organisers thought this may have been their largest market yet.

A portion of the proceeds went to the Linden Community Policing Forum, which was on hand to tell residents about the work they do. “Right now we are training 40 patrollers who will soon hit the streets,” explained forum chairperson Annelize Tichauer.

“They will be kitted out and able to patrol the streets to reduce crime. They will also assist families at crime scenes after an incident – they help victims deal with what happened. We have always had victim support but want to improve how we serve the community. Having a designated cellphone for these volunteers will help.”

She said the plan was also to mark their vehicles so the public could recognise and interact with the members.

Market co-organiser Tabitha Forrest thanked the community for their support, as well as Linden Police and Community Policing Forum, security companies, the bag-pipe band from De La Salle Holy Cross College, and everyone else for making the day a great one.
