Northriding residents donates teddy bears to make children happy

A Northriding resident is eager to provide teddy bears and make children happy.

Anna-Marie Lemmerer, a North Riding resident, has donated 953 teddy bears to 21 different homes, including Botswana, and has been collecting and donating teddy bears since December 2019.

Lemmer collects, buys, and donates teddy bears and soft toys to orphanages, children’s homes, children who have been victims of abuse, and the elderly in retirement villages.

She said that she is donating to children because it makes them happy.

“The children run around holding teddy bears the whole day and at night they fall asleep with them they get a feeling that there is someone with them to make them feel loved. The teddies become their first friends.”

Several organisations, including Acres of Love, St Mary’s Children’s Home, and The Angels Home, have acknowledged her for her contribution.

She appealed to the community to kindly donate more used teddy bears.

“Any donations of teddies and soft toys will be gratefully appreciated by the children of the orphanages.”
