Rand Park High pianist encourages others to get involved in acting and music

Pianist talks about her view on participating in major productions at school.

Rachel Bibb writes:

I play the piano and am a backup dancer and singer in Rand Park High School’s major production this year.
It is called Summer of Love and is a modern take on Grease. I have enjoyed every part of the production.

We have a professional directing the production in Bailey Snyman, and a lot of thought has been put into what music will be played. The production isn’t a ‘copy-paste’ from the movie. Learners who are involved are also treated like professionals in the sense that people need to take responsibility for their roles.

I have always been into music, acting and dancing. My passion developed when I first started participating in the major production for Rand Park High School. One day I would like to write music and be a musician with original music.

If I was asked by a younger learner about becoming involved in a major production, I would say they should totally do it. It’s such a unique and incredible experience that you won’t get anywhere else. They will grow so much in their talents and discover new ones along the way. Their confidence will also grow tremendously as they participate.
