Rand Park Primary School’s Josh Drury wins 7 medals in swimming nationals

Local swimmer keeps setting records, making history for his school, and winning at nationals.

Rand Park Primary School’s swimming star Josh Drury has once again done his school proud.

Last year, he won all six of his Central Gauteng Aquatics Junior Championships races. He also swam his best 100m backstroke time, which was a national record for the age division.

Josh followed that up this year by setting four new records in the school’s inter-house gala and became the first person from the school to be selected for the U13 Gauteng Schools swimming team.

His latest achievements include swimming for the team at the National Schools’ Swimming Championship in Durban where he won seven medals.

These included:

  • 100m breaststroke – gold medal
  • 200m breaststroke – gold medal
  • 4 x 100m free medley – gold medal
  • 4 x 100 medley – gold medal
  • 50m breaststroke – silver medal
  • 4 x 50m individual medley relay – silver medal
  • 200m individual medley – bronze medal.

Josh also received his provincial colours for swimming at the championships. These results mean he is the school’s national champion in 100m and 200m breaststroke.
