Northgate Ice Rink to hold fundraisers for dancers

Dancers ask for sponsors and host ice-skating event as they prepare to compete in Rhode Island.

What better reason to ice skate than to help raise funds for dancers who have qualified for a prestigious event in the United States.

Northgate Ice Rink will be abuzz from 17:00 until 19:00 on April 23 to help raise funds for the girls to participate in the competition.

Jodi Goodall stands on the shoulders of Megan Perrins at the competition’s qualifiers.

A total of 13 girl dancers from J&C Dance Creations have been selected to participate in the American Dance Awards in Rhode Island in July.

“We also qualified in 2019 but unfortunately ADA Nationals 2020, scheduled to take place in Miami, was cancelled due to Covid-19,” said Randpark Ridge resident Jodi Goodall.

Jodi Goodall looks forward to competing in the United States.

“We continued to work hard through the pandemic, taking over living spaces for Zoom dance classes. Personally, I was devasted by the cancellation of the competition that I had aspired to compete in for many years. Since then, I’ve had to motivate myself to keep up the hard work and I am pleased that I now have the opportunity to fulfill that dream.”

Jodi said she has continued to improve and feels confident her hard work will prevail.

“We are currently putting in countless hours of training in preparation for this big competition, but due to the cost of travel, accommodation, entry fees as well as our South African tracksuits, we are also making time to do fundraising.”

Jodi Goodall and Isabella Jansen van Vuuren perform at the competition’s qualifiers.

“As a studio, we are also looking for sponsors for team bags and shirts.”
