Hoërskool Randburg achieves its best results yet

Principal congratulates learners, their families and school staff for a host of medals won at district awards thanks to last year's matriculants.

Hoërskool Randburg never received as many honours as it did at this year’s District Awards Ceremony.

This was thanks to the achievements of the matriculants of last year, a result of hard work by the learners, their families and their teachers.
So said principal Pieter Booysen as he boasted about the success of one of the top 10 academic schools in the district, now rated in the top 20 Afrikaans schools in the country.
Seven learners were top achievers in the district in certain subjects while two of these were in the top 10 overall.

Christelle Jones ties for first place as the top matriculant in Gauteng.

“The results are exceptional and I am very proud and thankful for the awards,” Booysen said.
“I always say true success is what happens after school and we are privileged to have played our part in the development of successful people. Many of our learners go on to become leaders in life, which we see right away in the student councils where they study after school. They achieve well at varsity and become Golden Key members. They always go on to make a difference in society.”

Christelle Jones tied first as the best matriculant in Gauteng with her 10 distinctions, including a 100% in maths and 97% in science. She said she was proud of her results as she had aimed for distinctions in every subject and finished with 90s in all of them.

She said the secret to her success was hard work and paying attention in class because ‘you do not always have time afterwards to revise it all’.
Jones is studying medicine at the University of Pretoria this year.
