The Local Market, held at the Delta Park Scout grounds is a monthly family and dog-friendly event that is always worth a visit.
The Camp Delta Scout grounds boast many trees so even in the sweltering heat, the venue is cool, green, and a pleasure to spend time in.
Organisers Tabatha Forrest and Irvin Sammons ensure there is something for everyone, while also helping to raise funds for the Scouts and the worthwhile activities they offer for children.
Every so often they expand on their regular stalls which they did this past weekend by inviting stall holders who wanted to sell ‘pre-loved’ or second-hand items. In December, the market was turned into a gardener’s haven with sellers coming from across the province to participate.
A nominal fee of R10 is collected at the entrance which goes a long way to helping the Scouts with their activities for children which run on Saturday mornings at 9am.
There is safe parking and after strolling through the market, Delta Park is another lovely green space one can enjoy on a lazy Sunday.
