Randburg Harriers has a blast and a few drinks at the Grog Jog

Also known as the chairman's run, this event saw runners stop at pubs to drink along the way.

Runners had a blast at the annual Grog Jog hosted by Randburg Harriers in December.

Also known as the chairman’s run, this event sees runners visit five pubs along a 7km route.

A runner leaves one of the pubs.

At each one, the runners must each have a drink before moving on.

This is always a lot of fun, club chairperson Jacob Shayi said.

Runners made new friends as they embarked on the merry adventure around Randburg, and keeping the vibe alive throughout the run was easy.

Next up, Randburg Harriers will host its energy-filled and romantic Valentine’s night run on February 17.

The running club in Praegville will host the annual event in the evening again, after 2022’s edition saw a chilled outdoor family picnic vibe prevail and about half as many runners as usual due to Covid-19 protocols.

Runners make their way to the next point on the Grog Jog.

“It reverts back to its original Friday night slot,” Shayi said.

“People will appreciate that it will be a night run again. It is a festive night event that evokes a vibe and atmosphere. The theme is #Loveisintheair.”
